The Martins cottage began as a straightforward lake property and has become something more layered: a home fluent in two architectural dialects, modern and cottage vernacular, speaking to each other across a single roofline.

The Leisure Island boathouse sits on a boat-access site on Lake of the Woods, sheltering a single Bayliner beneath its soaring black roofline. The design brief called for something far from the traditional boathouse look.
